Chatting with matches
Open Chats. New matches are the round faces at the top; tap one to say hello. Your conversations are below.
The first messages
- Not sure what to say? The chat suggests a few openers: tap one.
- Whoever writes first can send 3 messages until the other person replies. Photos and voice notes open after they reply.
- One tick means sent; two ticks mean it reached their phone. If both of you allow it, you also see when it was read.
More than text
Tap + next to the message box:
- Photo from your phone.
- GIF from the app's own library.
- Share my location for 24 hours, for example when you meet.
- Play a game: Two truths and a lie, Would you rather, or This or that.
When the message box is empty, the microphone button records a voice note.
Tap Translate under a message in another language.
Good to know
- If a message may hurt someone, the app asks Send this message? first, so you can change it.
- Messages that look like scams get a warning.
- Icebreakers: some people allow a message before you match (2 messages until they answer). They can accept or decline.
- To end a conversation, open the chat menu and choose Unmatch.
